Despite the very wet evening there was virtually a full house for the second edition of "An Evening of Comedy, Magic, Illusion and Mind Reading" presented last Sunday at Twyford's Loddon Hall. Clive Winterton, Chris Marris and Robert Bone were in action before and during the interval with their "in-your-face" close-up entertainment and appeared to be preforming continually, and more important, entertaining AND mystifying.

The Stage Show started at 7pm with a brief audience warm-up from Simon Alexander who kept the evening moving without any real problems, presenting some of his own style of magic where necessary. The Cameo Dancers opened with a lively Can-Can and we were then invited to enjoy the Mind Magic of Psychological Entertainer, Ian Souch who with the aid of a number of willing helpers showed that what you think is not always solely in YOUR own mind. Baffling and from comments  around our seats had the general public believing ! The Molins (Maurice Weller and Inma) closed the first half with a miscellany of magic which led into the final illusion ... a mini cabinet penetration by tubes and blades of the willing assistant, and luckily the safe return to bring us to the interval.

The second half started with the raffle (again one of the Churcher tickets being successful !) and then into the re-appearance of the Cameo Dancers with their pleasing presentation of a number from "Cats". HCMS President Simon Williams kept the party mood in full swing with his comedy and magic and again from remarks around our seats, pleasing to those present. His giant card stabbing knife must surely be on the list of "very offensive weapons".

The Molins made their second appearance and with appropriate eerie music a group of cloaked figures assembled a perspex trunk, sides, floor and top, briefly covered with a cloth to reveal the ever willing assistant.. The Electric Chair routine registered well and the act closed with a seemingly never ending production of colourful umbrellas which literally, filled the stage and overflowed into the auditorium.

As the audience made their way out it was very apparent that the evening had been to their taste and liking. Working closely with the performers on and off stage were David Goddard (Lighting) - David Goddard (Sound), two different persons who were involved and happen to have the same name, Diane Capel (Staging) - the staff at Loddon Hall - Andrew Webb who sorted the Web, Programme, Marketing & Technical Support.

Although not mentioned in either of the introductions Maurice Weller (the male half of The Molins) was suffering badly following his recent 'flu jab and speaking with him afterwards (he will ... hopefully ... have gone straight home to bed ! ) he croaked to me, "the show had to go on"... and it did, and had been a success.
