We recently posted an article about the The Magic Castle being sold, and since then there has been much discussion about this, and many comments on the fact that there has been no 'official' statement from either the Castle or the AMA. Many have said that this is due to the fact that the deal is between the Glover family (for own the land and the buildings on it) and the new buyer, and the castle itself is not privy to this information.
Milt Larsen has now published a statement via email regarding the current situation, and, addresses many members concerns that the membership has not been informed about the potential buyers;
After President Gay Blackstone announced that the Glover family had decided on the new buyer many of our members wanted to know why the details of the sale were not given to the membership. The act is that the sale is a complicated matter between the buyer and the seller. It is a very complicated sale due to the multimillion dollar price and also issues of zoning, property titles and many other points of negotiation.
Since we (Academy of Magical Arts and Magic Castles Inc) have nothing to do with the sale of the family property we have no information about the details of a sale. When the deal is finalized we will then meet with the new buyers and work out details of a new, hopefully long term lease with them. This process may take many months and any details will be announced when they become facts instead of rumors.
We look forward to working with the new owners and, we understand, they are looking forward to a great relationship with the Magic Castle.
