Ali Bongo took his final bow yesterday, in a moving and memorable service conducted by Peter Liddlelow AIMC, The Magic Circle Chaplain.

Ali's trademark Golden Slippers from his 'Shriek of Araby' act were placed on top of his wicker coffin as it was carried in.

His friends, family and fellow magicians packed the chapel at Randalls Park, with close to 200 people sitting, standing, filling the aisles and even behind the chaplain to pay their respects.

Psalm 121 v 1-8 was read by David Berglas MIMC, past president of The Magic Circle, before tributes from Philip and Alison Dolden, Ali's surviving niece and nephew. Stuart Phillip, Ali's long time neighbor and friend read a poem written by Elsa Gemmal about Ali.

Krissie Du Cann sung 'The Wind Beneath My Wings' to a tearful congregation before Paul Daniels MIMC recounted funny tales and memories of Ali, pausing at least three times to compose himself being visually upset. Jack Delvin concluded the tributes, talking about his long relationship and friendship with Ali, ending with a Broken Wand Ceremony.

As the committal took place and the curtains closed, the chapel was filled with the music 'In a Persian Market Place' which was the accompaniment to his 'Shriek of Araby' act. In a scene that was reminiscent of the wonderful times Ali performed on stage, his final audience clapped, stood, and gave him a final standing ovation.

After the concluding prayer, Ali's voice was heard filling the chapel, singing his own composition 'Just a Little Bit of Magic'.
