 Members, family and friends enjoyed an evening of Good Company, Good Surroundings and Good Magic at the Sonning Golf Club with ample opportunity to meet and chat with old and new friends. Following the inner sustenance of our bodies, President Robin Maddy proposed the Toast to HRH Queen Elizabeth II and then spoke warmly about the Society and the continuing enthusiasm of both the older and newer members. He thanked those who had helped in the organising of the evening and then called on all to raise their glasses to drink to the further advancement of the Society. Several of the members were busy at the tables entertaining with their close-up skills whenever the opportunity came throughout the evening.

Many thanks to everyone who donated prizes to this months raffle. The raffle that takes place at most meetings is an important way to continue to raise funds for the society, These funds help us put on more lectures, and keep your subscriptions as low as possible. At the Ian Keable lecture the raffle generated £32 and a number of members donated prizes. Many thanks to those who did, and those who brought tickets.

 Members will be aware that Sean Lobban, a magician from the Portsmouth and District Magic Circle, is arranging to walk from Portsmouth to London via Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Reading and Windsor to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which is a charity saving the lives of leukaemia patients through bone marrow transplants.
The HCMS Council is giving it's support to this venture and intends to hand over a presentation cheque to the Trekkers when they arrive at our society on the 8th May.
