 Many thanks to all the members of the Home Counties Magic Society for their support through my application process to join the Magic Circle.
I am pleased to announce that last night I received a phone call informing me that I had passed the audition (all three judges passed me on all the necessary criteria) and I am now a full member of the Magic Circle. |

Brian Dodridge's "Bill the Pill" Close-Up effect shown to members at a recent meeting is featured in the current edition of the above monthly publication. I was very pleased to see this effect when I started my browse through the magazine this morning (27 May '08). Members lucky enough to have seen this "brainchild" of Brian's will recall how well it was received when he demonstrated, and explained the effect at a recent meeting. Well done Brian. I am sure all members will have their fingers well crossed for a successful outcome for this effect in the Cecil Lyle Award Competition (best effect submitted to The Magic Circular Magazine). |

 Richard Young is one of our younger members, and at only 23, he's already made a name for himself in the world of Magic.
In 1998 when he was only 14, Richard won the 'Young Magicians Close Up Magic Competition' run by The Magic Circles Young Magicians Club. The more impressive part was that Richard had no professional tutoring before winning the competition. HCMS Member Bob Swadling took Richard under his wing, and has tutored Richard ever since. Richard appears on the front cover and feature article inside todays edition of 'In Business', a supplement of The Oxford Times. Chris Hogan's article talks about Richards magic and the way he markets himself and his website. |

 HCMS Member Bob Swadling will again be appearing at FFFF 2008 (Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic) convention in New York. The FFFF (Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic) convention is the "Original Close-Up Magic Convention" and the most prestigious gathering of close-up magicians in the world. The event which has run since 1971 is 'By-Invitation-Only' and features the best performers, creators and lecturers in the world.
This years Guest of Honor is Boris Wild, and the four day convention features, Obie O'Brain, Richard Turner, Paul Gorden, Steve Beam, Hank Moorehouse, Astor, Mark Leveridge, Mathieu Bich, Ali Bongo, Bob Swadling, Richard Sanders, Dan Garrett, Ian Rowland, Martin Cox, and Paul Gertner to name but a few.  One of our all too little seen members Bob Swadling was placed second in the competition held last evening (31 March 2008) at the Circle's HQ. In addition he gained the Originality Award.
Well done Bob for keeping the Society Flag flying and hearty congratulations from all at the HCMS.
